Olive Oil from Crete
Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Crete, Greece
Crete has been producing olive oil for thousands of years. Its Mediterranean climate, olive-growing heritage and deep connection to the olive tree have made the island one of Greece's most important olive oil regions.
For Acropolis Organics, Crete isn't simply an origin printed on a bottle. It's where our Greek extra virgin olive oil begins.
Our EVOO is produced from Koroneiki olives grown in Crete, with an emphasis on provenance, careful production and traceability from the grove to the bottle.
Why Crete?
Crete's landscape and Mediterranean climate provide excellent conditions for olive cultivation, with abundant sunshine and a long history of growing olives.
But origin alone doesn't make an olive oil exceptional.
The quality of an EVOO also depends on the olive variety, condition of the fruit, harvesting, time to milling, extraction, storage and handling.
That's why Acropolis Organics combines its Cretan origin with careful control over how its olive oil is produced.
Koroneiki — The Olive Behind Our Greek EVOO
Acropolis Organics Greek extra virgin olive oil is produced from Koroneiki olives, one of Greece's most celebrated olive varieties.
Koroneiki can produce aromatic EVOO with fresh fruit characteristics, pleasant bitterness and a distinctive peppery finish.
By identifying the actual olive variety, we're able to provide consumers with more information about what's inside the bottle than simply saying “Extra Virgin Olive Oil.”
Single Estate · Single Mill · Single Variety
Traceability is an important part of the Acropolis Organics approach.
Our Greek EVOO is:
- Single Estate
- Single Mill
- Single Variety — Koroneiki
- Hand-Picked
- Cold Extracted
- Quality Tested
This approach gives us greater control and traceability throughout production and allows us to tell you more precisely where your olive oil comes from and how it was made.
The Olive-Growing Heritage of Crete
The olive tree has been part of Cretan culture, agriculture and food for generations.
Crete is also home to the famous Ancient Olive Tree of Vouves, one of the world's oldest known olive trees and an enduring symbol of the island's extraordinary olive-growing heritage.
For Acropolis Organics, this heritage is part of a continuing story: respecting traditional olive cultivation while using modern quality analysis and traceability to understand the oil we produce today.
From the Grove to the Bottle
Exceptional olive oil requires careful handling throughout the entire process.
Acropolis Organics focuses on the details that matter:
Origin → Variety → Estate → Harvest → Mill → Extraction → Testing → Bottle
Our goal is straightforward: produce authentic Greek extra virgin olive oil whose origin and quality can be understood rather than simply taken on faith.
Quality You Can Measure
Along with provenance and traceability, Acropolis Organics uses recognized olive oil quality measurements including:
- Free Acidity
- Peroxide Value
- K232
- K270
These measurements provide useful information about an olive oil's condition and oxidative quality and complement sensory evaluation and careful production.
